Define the unit of deployment
Decide whether each kit represents one site, room, rack, store or installation wave and make every serial, accessory, label and configuration traceable to it.
Receiving and asset reconciliation
Inspect packaging and equipment for damage before acceptance. Record manufacturer, model, serial, MAC, asset tag, purchase or order reference, license identifier and destination. Photograph discrepancies without exposing credentials or sensitive shipping data.
Reconcile expected versus received quantities and quarantine unknown, duplicate, damaged or incorrect items. Do not allow an urgent deployment to consume equipment assigned to another site without documented reassignment and configuration review.

Firmware, configuration and burn-in
Apply an approved software baseline from the manufacturer’s official source. Record versions and checksums where appropriate. Load site or template configuration through a controlled process that protects credentials. Confirm license and cloud-claim state before boxing equipment.
Burn-in should exercise power, boot, interfaces, fans, power supplies and management connectivity for the agreed duration. Test optics and accessories when they are part of the site kit. Failed or unstable devices move to quarantine with a replacement and RMA record.

Kitting, labeling and shipping control
Create a bill of materials for each deployment unit: devices, rails, brackets, power cords, console cables, optics, DACs, patch cords, antennas, labels and instructions. Match regional power and mounting needs. Small omitted accessories cause disproportionate site delays.
Label outer containers and internal components with destination and kit identifier without advertising sensitive contents unnecessarily. Use tamper evidence where required and choose packaging for weight, static, moisture and transport conditions. Record carrier, tracking and recipient.

Site receipt, installation and reverse logistics
Require the field team to confirm seal, count and serials before the change window. Reconcile installed, spare, unused, failed and removed equipment. Update cloud inventory and asset systems so the serial at the site matches the logical configuration.
Reverse logistics needs return authorization, data-handling instructions, packaging and destination. Factory reset and data destruction authority should be explicit. Track loaners and temporary spares until they are returned or formally assigned.
