Warehouse connectivity must survive height, racking, inventory, metal, vehicles, temperature, dust and constant movement. Scanner success depends on the complete path from handheld radio through access points, switching, identity and the warehouse application. TechRunz combines safe field installation with workflow-based acceptance.

Survey, safety and device readiness

Review aisles, racks, docks, lifts, freezer boundaries, conveyor areas, equipment traffic and safe access. Reconcile AP locations and antennas with the approved RF design and current rack/inventory state. Coordinate lifts, spotters and restricted work areas with site safety.

Verify scanner model, accessories, battery, charging, operating-system and application enrollment. Reconcile industrial switch model, temperature range, enclosure, power, grounding, uplinks, SFPs and PoE against the design before dispatch.

Lift availability and aisle access shape this schedule more than the equipment does. Confirm with the warehouse contact which zones can be cleared, when a lift and spotter are booked, and who authorizes work near conveyors, so the crew is not standing beside a running line waiting on permission.

AP, scanner and industrial switch installation

Mount APs at specified height, orientation and antenna geometry using rated hardware and protected cable paths. Label AP and cable so they can be identified from records without unsafe access. Preserve antenna separation and do not relocate an AP for convenience without RF approval.

Install industrial switches and enclosures with airflow, ingress protection, grounding and service clearances. Dress fiber and copper away from moving equipment and sharp edges. Connect scanners or cradles to the approved wireless or Ethernet service and enroll them in the client platform.

Aerial positions are costly to revisit, so confirm the port, power and management-platform appearance of each AP while the lift is still beneath it. Photograph the mount and its label from floor level as well, giving a later visit a reference that does not require booking equipment to check.

RF, network and warehouse workflow testing

Validate uplinks, optics, PoE, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, time, authentication and monitoring. Review RF metrics and interference with the approved tools, then test roaming along representative pick paths and at aisle ends, docks and zone boundaries.

Run actual warehouse tasks: login, barcode capture, lookup, receive, move, pick, confirm, print and reconnect after sleep or radio loss. Test cold or outdoor transitions and vehicle mounting where required. Record application delay separately from radio or network observations.

Have an operator who works the aisle daily run the tasks and describe what feels slow, then set that account beside the roaming and radio data collected on the same path. Record the zone, the time and the device used, since a reported dead spot is hard to chase without those three.

Asset, spare and operations handoff

Deliver AP, antenna, scanner, cradle, switch, SFP, enclosure, cable and port inventory with software, photos, tests and exceptions. Protect user, device and network credentials.

Assign scanner pool, battery replacement, charging, MDM, application, RF monitoring, switch backup, spares and escalation ownership. Keep compatible batteries, cradles, optics and rugged patching aligned to the deployed models.

Spares planning is the part that decays first. Record the battery, cradle and optic references matching the deployed units, where they are stocked and who reorders them. Mounted AP positions and antenna orientation belong in the same document so a replacement goes back the way the design intended.
