IT Equipment Installation & De-installation
Install new hardware and remove what it replaces, with custody documented from the rack to its disposal or return destination.
Both ends of the hardware lifecycle
Installing new equipment is half a refresh. The other half is what leaves: superseded servers, switches and appliances that hold configuration, credentials and often data. Equipment that is stacked in a corner because nobody owned its removal is a security exposure with a lease-return date attached.
We handle both directions in one engagement. New hardware goes in against the drawing; the replaced hardware leaves on a documented chain of custody, with drives handled the way your policy requires rather than the way that is convenient.
What the engagement covers
- Installation, cabling and power-up of replacement hardware
- Safe shutdown and de-cabling of superseded equipment
- Drive removal, retention or certified destruction to your policy
- Palletizing and transport to return, resale or recycling
Chain of custody
For anything leaving the building, the record is the deliverable, not a formality.
Install and removal sequence
The old equipment stays powered until the new equipment has proved itself.
Install
Mount, cable and power the replacement alongside what it supersedes.
Prove
Confirm the new hardware carries production before anything is pulled.
Decommission
Shut down cleanly, de-cable and remove to the agreed policy.
Discharge
Hand over the manifest, drive record and destination receipts.
Common triggers
This work usually arrives attached to a deadline somebody else set.
- Hardware refresh cycles and end-of-support replacement
- Lease returns with condition and completeness requirements
- Office closures, consolidations and data center exits
- Post-acquisition cleanup of duplicated infrastructure
Refreshing hardware and unsure what happens to the old?
Send the asset list and any lease terms. We will scope installation and removal together, including how the media is handled.
