Moves, Adds & Changes

Handle the steady stream of small port changes, desk moves, new drops and reconfigurations that never justify a project but still have to happen.

The small work that never gets its own project number

Moves, adds and changes are individually trivial and collectively substantial. A team relocating to another floor, six new drops for a hired group, a conference room getting a different display, a port that needs to move to another VLAN. None of it warrants a project plan, and all of it stops somebody working until it is done.

A standing arrangement works better than a purchase order per request. Agreed response times, a known request path and a technician already familiar with your building means a desk move takes an afternoon instead of two weeks of scheduling.

Typical requests

  • Desk, office and departmental relocations including reconnection
  • New cable drops, terminations and patch panel additions
  • Port patching, reassignment and labeling corrections
  • Access point relocation and conference room device changes

Keeping the record straight

The reason MAC work degrades a building is that nobody updates the documentation. That is the deliverable.

Request historyWhat was asked, when it was done and who approved it.
Patch schedule updateThe panel-to-port record corrected after every change.
Drop additionsNew cable runs with labels, test results and floor location.
Stock positionConsumables used and what remains in the on-site kit.

How requests flow

A light process, because heavy process is why small work stalls.

Raise

Submit the request with location, need-by date and approver.

Confirm

Agree scope and slot it against the current queue.

Execute

Complete the work, test it and label anything new.

Update

Correct the patching and drop records the same day.

Buildings this suits

Standing MAC support pays off wherever the floor plan changes more often than the network does.

  • Offices with regular team and headcount movement
  • Shared and multi-tenant floors with churn between suites
  • Clinics and schools reconfiguring rooms between terms or services
  • Sites where documentation has drifted and needs steady correction
