Smart Hands Field Services
Send a technician to a site your engineers cannot reach, working live under their direction to swap, reseat, recable or console into equipment.
A pair of hands where your engineer is not
Smart hands exists because remote troubleshooting eventually runs into something physical. A transceiver that needs reseating, a power supply with a dark LED, a console cable nobody left plugged in. The engineer already knows what to do; what is missing is somebody standing in front of the rack.
Our technicians work to your engineer’s instruction on a live call. They do not redesign anything or make configuration decisions. The value is a competent person on site quickly, describing accurately what they see and doing exactly what they are asked.
Common dispatch tasks
- Reseat or replace optics, cables, drives and power supplies
- Attach console or crash-cart access for a remote engineer
- Power cycle in a controlled order and report what comes back
- Read fault LEDs, capture display output and photograph the rack
What comes back from a dispatch
A dispatch that produces no record just moves the problem to the next shift.
How a call runs
The technician is your engineer’s eyes and hands, and stays on the line until released.
Request
Capture the site, the symptom and the access constraints.
Dispatch
Assign a technician and confirm badging and arrival time.
Work
Execute on a live call under your engineer’s direction.
Release
Confirm the outcome with the engineer before leaving the site.
When smart hands is the right call
Dispatch is the efficient answer when travel time for your own staff exceeds the work itself.
- Colocation and remote sites with no local staff
- After-hours faults where the on-call engineer is hours away
- Vendor replacements needing somebody to receive and fit the part
- Sites where the building requires an escorted, badged technician
